Are you struggling, hurting, overwhelmed, in despair or even fearful? Is life feeling difficult?
You may not wish to turn to family (or may be unable to) or friends, therefore counselling is another option.
I am a warm and engaging therapist that is happy to answer any queries you may have about counselling. I offer a safe, calm and confidential space for you talk about anything that may be confusing, painful or uncomfortable. This is a unique space that is separate from friends and family. Together with my support you can move forward to making positive changes that will enhace your life.
The counselling relationship I offer is empathic and non-judgemental, aims to create an environment in which deep grievances may be heard and processed to encourage emotional healing.
As an integrative relational counsellor I offer an approach that is tailored to each unique individual. (please see below for an explanation of 'integrative counselling'). My aim is to encourage and nuture using a variety of different approaches to help resolve current problems, and to change long-standing behavioral patterns. With sensitivity and understanding solutions can be found to a wide range of life's challenges and psychological issues.
I have been working in the helping professions for many years and have a wealth of experience to offer. Please feel free to contact me at any time to find out more about my approach and the type of therapy I offer. Successful therapy requires a lot of experience and specific training. I specialise in adult, older adult, adolescent and couples counselling.
'Integrative counselling' involves training in more than one modality, rather than being a purist. Therapy models are a way for a therapist to think about what might be at the root of an individual's emotional difficulties and then formulate a way of helping them. Integrative counsellors take ideas and ways of working from different therapeutic models and combine them in a way that suits the individual client. It is my belief that we are all individual and therefore one modality may suit one but not all.
Some of the theories/modalities I use are humanistic, psychodynamic, gestalt, existentialism, attachment theory, inner child work and creative visualisations and many others.
