Changes within the family or in relationships hit young adults particularly hard. During the transition from child to adult adolescents face many changes to both the body and the brain and
this can be a stressful time.
What is important when working with adolescents is to build trust, to ensure an equal power dynamic (I am not a parent or teacher), and to ensure confidentiality. I will not report the content of any session to a parent or other adult without permission from the young person concerned. To achieve positive changes, the young person's environment within the therapy room must feel safe.
